Why I Already Booked My Trip to The Tokyo 2020 Olympics

by Jan 25, 2019Destinations

Though I always advise clients to book trips in advance, I usually book my personal travel quite late. But for the Olympics… it’s another story. My husband and I are going and I already booked my trip to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics! Here’s why you should consider doing it too.

Why You Shouldn’t Miss Tokyo 2020

A trip to the Olympics on it’s own is the quintessential bucket list trip. Combine that with the wonders Tokyo and it will truly be the event of a lifetime. Japan’s capital is bursting with cultural attractions, outstanding shopping, and amazing food. And don’t forget about the neon lights, crazy electronic gadgets, owl and cat cafes, and spectacular nightlife. There really is nowhere else in the world like Tokyo.

At this year’s Olympics there will be four new sports entering the playing field for the first time: skateboarding, surfing, sport climbing, and karate. The city is also planning to pull out all the stops in terms of making the Olympics its own – from using recycled electronics in the design of each m

edal (yay sustainability!) to using iconic landmarks like the Imperial Palace Gardens as the backdrop for sporting events. Rumors have it that AI will be a big theme too – don’t be surprised when you land at Narita if a friendly robot is there to give you directions.

How to do Tokyo 2020 in Style

For myself and my clients, I am working with a partner who specializes in luxury sporting events. They are truly experts and have been planning Olympics trips (as well as Superbowl, Wimbeldon, etc.) for over 30 years now. Together we’ve vetted five really amazing hotels in Tokyo (both Four Seasons, The Park Hyatt, The Hilton, and the Hyatt Centric Ginza) and we can guarantee them now – before the rooms open up to the public. We’re also able to guarantee event tickets due to deep relationships with sponsors and sports federations. Aside from early and guaranteed access, there will be amazing service on the ground too. Each client gets a personal concierge who will help with anything from dinner reservations, to hair appointments, to riding the train with you if you feel lost.

During your stay in Tokyo you’ll receive high-tough service from the onsite host team, made up of experienced event specialists and bilingual local experts. When you travel with Bell & Bly Travel, we take the stress out of traveling and make your experience as seamless as possible.

Why You Need to Book Tokyo 2020 ASAP

I am usually a last minute planner for my personal travels, but sometimes that strategy just doesn’t work. If you want to have a seamless experience, be guaranteed a comfortable hotel room, and get tickets to the events you want, you need to book ASAP. The first week is about 95% sold out and the women’s gymnastics final is about 99% sold out. There is more availability in the second week, which has some amazing events like the mens 100m final and some gymnastics finals as well. You also get more bang for your buck in the second week – but again, it’s about 70% sold out. Bottom line, if you want to take advantage of this truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, you should book now.
